Course description

This course provides depth and breadth in knowledge and skill acquisition for the advanced social work student in their work in public, private, and Tribal child welfare. Students will learn about the child welfare system, the necessary critical thinking skills, and the interventions utilized to effectively serve and support children and families. In this course, students will analyze the current functioning of the child welfare system, assess strengths and risks, and develop appropriate plans that secure child safety and well-being and promote family capacity and resources.
