Course description
Aspects of communication essential for being persuasive/influential. Organizing/presenting ideas effectively, strategies for audience analysis, choosing communication methods, making appropriate use of informal influence methods, handling dissent. Processes for intercultural communication. The primary goal of the course is to learn to communicate more effectively, both in the workplace and in personal life. We usually take communicating with others for granted, but in this course, we will focus on principles that will help convey ideas in a more concise, concrete, and clear manner. Students will learn by doing how to break old habits and acquire new ones. This will involve a lot of writing, working with a team of peers and learning from each other as well as the instructor. The entire approach to the class is collaborative.
