Course description
This course is a survey of the basic principles of chemistry as they relate to funeral service. Emphasis is on the chemical principles and precautions involved in the preservation and disinfection of the dead human body. Introductory fundamentals of inorganic/organic chemistry and biochemistry will be covered in this course. In addition, chemical changes in the human body during life, after death, and during chemical preservation will be addressed. Moreover, general information about the chemical features of disinfection, toxicology, and embalming fluids will be covered.
