Course description
In this class we will examine women, gender relations, and family in China from about 1550 to the present. We will read fiction, poetry, memoirs, and works by historians, as well as watch films and examine visual evidence. We will always be attentive to questions of how we know what we know and of the nature of the sources we are looking at.
