Course description

History of road construction, pavement types, traffic, and environmental loading. Subgrade materials, aggregates, asphalt concrete, and Portland cement concrete. Flexible pavement analysis and rigid pavements analysis. Structural design of flexible pavements and structural design of rigid pavements. Flexible pavements construction and rigid pavements construction. Distresses, maintenance, and rehabilitation of pavement systems. Assessment of pavement condition. Needs analysis and rehabilitation and maintenance strategies. Time value of money and life cycle cost analysis.
