Classical and Near Eastern Religions and Cultures (10956) TCLA - College of Liberal Arts

Course description

Although it is rarely acknowledged, ancient Greek and Roman societies had a massively diverse and fluid network of ideas about gender and sexuality. Through close reading of texts and analysis of artifacts left behind, we'll familiarize ourselves with their views. Likewise, we'll examine the immense influence the ancient Greek and Roman world has had on modern notions—and even laws—relating to gender and sexuality today.
