Course description

This advanced practice course prepares students to use engagement, assessment, and intervention strategies within family systems. Building on foundation skills and knowledge, students will develop advanced competencies and skills in applying various change theories to the healing of families with an emphasis on identifying resiliency within family systems that promote adaptability, cohesion, and protection. This course prioritizes a critical examination of one’s own experience of family and encourages students to engage in family systems with a framework to also examine power, privilege, and systemic inequities as they relate to family functioning and social work practice.
