Course description
Build on the knowledge you gained in AnSc 2055 (Horse Management) by gaining practical experience in essential tasks required to effectively care for and manage horses. This is a hybrid course with in-person labs every Wednesday combined with weekly on-line course materials. Topics covered include horse safety, grooming, handling, hoof health, equine bodywork, vital sign assessment, bandaging, nutrition, lameness exams, stall management, body measurements and pasture management. Throughout the course you will also have multiple opportunities to interact with industry professionals.
