Course description
This course introduces students to the major legal, ethical aspects and principles as applied in healthcare management. Topics include organization and governance of healthcare organizations, regulation, healthcare fraud and abuse, professional licensing and credentialing, compliance, quality and risk management, privacy and security of individually identifiable health information, healthcare decision-making, professional liability and malpractice. Other topics include legal and ethical issues surrounding healthcare technologies, medical research, and medical breakthroughs, consent to treatment, ethical dilemmas, and inclusive excellence.
