Course description

This course traces the rise and fortunes of the Habsburg family from their emergence in the late 13th century to the end of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806. We use the family to explore key themes of the period including the Black Death, Hussite wars and peasant revolts, the new print culture, developments of the Reformation, European expansion and Enlightenment culture.
