Course description
The Friday Colloquium is a mix of research presentations by scholars in Communication Studies and related fields, and workshops on professional development. The Colloquium provides graduate students with a broader introduction to the field, cutting edge work, and opportunities for developing their interests and skills.
The content and specific requirements of COMM 8xxx will vary by year, depending upon the faculty member who coordinates the colloquium series and the direction provided by the Director of Graduate Studies. In the fall of each year, the professional development portion of the Colloquium will focus on teaching. Professional development sessions in the spring may include: navigating the job market, publishing, networking, or alternative academic career paths, depending on the range of speakers and interests of the cohort.
