Course description

Course examines responses to environmental degradation in North America from the l8th century through the 21st. We analyze forms of protests, organizations, and frameworks that preceded current forms of environmentalism. Topics include legal and extra-legal protests against ecological damage and loss, the call for wilderness preservation, environmental racism, and the environmental justice movement.
