INET 4033 - Cloud Essentials (4 Cr.)
Course description
This course introduces students to concepts, tools, and operations of the common cloud providers. Students will learn about the cloud model by first studying the evolution of private, public, and hybrid data center compute and operations models and how those models eventually led to the cloud operations model we have today. It will emphasize general cloud concepts, tools, architecture, and operations that can be applied to any of the major cloud platforms. Although the course will use examples, tools, and labs from Amazon Web Services (AWS), students will also be introduced to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure. The leveraging of AWS learning tools will prepare students for the follow-up course, INET 4034-Cloud Architecture and Management. Together, these two courses will provide the fundamental preparation for passing the entry exams for Amazon, Google, or Microsoft cloud certification programs.
