Course description
In the US and across the world, traditional media, politics, and activism have been transformed by the rise of content creators. This course examines the mediation of family life by momfluencers and tradwives, the reimagination of political debate by podcasters and TikTok creators, and the revolution in feminist politics spurred by social media organizing.
This course is taught by Professor Sonali Pahwa. Sonali is a social media scholar and anthropologist with research experience in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Her interests include food content creation, podcasting, and feminist comedy. She teaches about stage and screen performance, and has lived and worked in five countries.
