College of Liberal Arts (TCLA)202 - Bachelor of Arts

Program description

The bachelor of arts (BA) in arts education degree program provides you with thorough training in technique and theory in studio art while assuring you complete all requirements to enter the University's MEd and teaching license program. The program focuses on MN state licensure requirements in arts education and offers early exposure to the field of teaching while completing all of the same requirements as our other art BA majors.

The program emphasizes the development of visual awareness and expression through hands-on involvement in the creative process. In studio art courses, you'll become familiar with the materials and concepts used to understand the nature of visual language and develop your own aesthetic voice. At the same time, you'll gain early exposure to the culture of teaching, completing the requirements to enter the University's graduate level teaching licensure program, focusing on arts education. The Arts Education B.A. does not itself lead to licensure.
