Program description
The Medical Laboratory Sciences minor focuses on the medical laboratory testing used in hospitals and clinics to make diagnoses and treatment plans. It is a valuable minor for students who are planning on going into healthcare professions such as physicians and physician assistants with an understanding of the laboratory testing they will be using to diagnose and treat their patients. The program allows students to focus on a particular area, such as hematology, hemostasis, and leukemias, or gain a broader understanding of common laboratory tests by taking courses in the four major disciplines of the clinical laboratory—diagnostic microbiology, clinical chemistry, transfusion medicine, and hematology/hemostasis.
