Course description

This course introduces students to the foundational principles of weight training and resistance exercise, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and practical application. Students will explore key concepts in exercise science, including training principles, muscle identification, movement patterns, and program design. Emphasis is placed on mastering proper technique for core exercises, including squats, lunges, planks, presses, pulls, and hinges.

Through a combination of instructor-led demonstrations, hands-on practice, and individualized workout sessions, students will develop essential skills in muscular strength and endurance. The course also covers flexibility training and encourages students to create and follow a personalized fitness plan aligned with national physical activity guidelines.

As part of the broader Physical Education curriculum, PE Conditioning fosters not only physical development but also personal growth. Students will engage in activities that promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-discipline, supporting a lifelong commitment to health and fitness. No prior experience is required, and the course is open to students of all skill levels. Appropriate athletic attire is required for participation.

PE classes involve a moderate to high level of energy expenditure and are considered moderately to highly intense. It is recommended that students be aware of their health status and any limitations that may affect their ability to participate safely in the physical activities involved in the course.
