Course description
This is an intermediate course in the art and craft of reading and writing fiction. Students will read and analyze contemporary and classic works of fiction while also constructing and revising their own fiction. Assigned works will include Black, Brown, Indigenous, female-identified and queer writers along with other writers reflecting a diversity of voices and perspectives throughout literary history. Students will be responsible for crafting original fiction, commenting on student work, workshop participation, attendance at a literary reading, short presentations and/or papers, and a final portfolio of fiction.
