BIOL 2001 - Career Planning for Biological Sciences Students (1 Cr.)

College of Biological Sciences - Adm (10845) TCBS - College of Biological Sciences

Course description

BIOL 2001 gives you the chance to explore your future with purpose. In this course, you’ll thoughtfully engage in your career development—both inside and outside the classroom. We’ll begin by examining big-picture issues and challenges in the world that capture your curiosity. What is the difference you hope to make in the world? From there, you’ll investigate who is working on these problems and the careers that allow you to contribute to meaningful solutions. Along the way, you’ll identify the skills and experiences you want to build, set goals for developing them, and learn how to communicate your story through resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and interviews. By the end of the semester, you’ll complete a Professional Development Plan—a personalized roadmap to guide your next steps in your career journey.

As you go through this process, your career goals will become clearer—and may even change as you learn more about yourself and the world of work. This growth is intentional and will help you navigate your career journey long after graduation.
