CHLS 4232 - Bodies, Borders, and Belonging: Latina/x Gender & Sexuality Studies (3 Cr.) Arts/Humanities, Race, Power, and Justice US
Course description
In this course, we'll learn about how Chicanas/o/xs and Latinas/o/xs have thought about, challenged, and reshaped ideas of gender and sexuality. Together, we’ll ask: How do race, class, and nation shape the way we experience gender? How have people resisted, redefined, or complicated sexual identity across different social and political contexts? From shifting “borders” of what counts as “normal” to the ways communities imagine new possibilities for identity, we’ll explore the politics of the self. Be ready to question assumptions, engage with bold thinkers, and connect these ideas to your own world.
