Course description

This course introduces processes and evidence-based methods of early childhood mental health assessment and diagnosis from a developmental and multi-disciplinary framework. The course provides an opportunity for practitioners (clinicians and non-clinicians) to review core concepts of development and their application to assessment and diagnostic processes, understand the function of assessment and diagnosis in intervention, and consider partnering relationships across disciplines in assessment and diagnostic processes. Materials and learning activities will 1) familiarize students with a range of early childhood assessment instruments, their developmental and functional significance, and psychometric properties; and 2) clarify the DC: 0-5™ framework and process.
