CI 5471 - Secondary English Field Experience Seminar (3 Cr.)
Course description
This course is designed to support your pre-student teaching field experience (CI 5924). The purpose of class meetings is to engage with dispositions and critical reflection, to engage with how we conceptualize teachers and teaching, and to collectively disrupt and (re)narrate teacher identity. In addition, this course supports you as you meet the state-required observation instructional hours before student teaching, helping you think through your classroom experiences and become a reflective practitioner. The purpose of clinical experience in middle school and high school classrooms is to engage with students and classroom ecology as participant-observer, design and redesign lesson plans, implement teaching strategies in small group and one-on-one settings, practice the classroom moves of a teacher, and consider how to facilitate your own and your students’ well-being.
prereq: Must register same semester as CI 5441 and CI 5451.
