CI 1904 - Global Studies in Action: From Classroom to an International Conference (3 Cr.) Global Perspectives, Freshman Seminar
Course description
This course is intended for first-year undergraduate students who have an interest in global studies but do not know how to make this happen in their field of study. Multiple approaches for globalization, while at home or abroad, will be explored. Students, with faculty support, will design and host a Tri-Country Video Conference commemorating International Students Day in November. The faculty are aware that students with integrated global studies in their chosen discipline will be more marketable upon graduation and be more flexible in living in a multicultural, anti-racist, globalized world. There are no prerequisites for this course; students should just have an interest in learning how a global perspective will enhance their life and career skills.
This course is taught by Professor Irene Duranczyk, an Associate Professor in the College of Education and Human Development. Professor Duranczyk has been collaborating with global partners in China, Russia and for the past 10 years. Professor Duranczyk balances the depth and breadth of engaging undergraduates from
three countries as they explore a common global concern.
