Course description
This course focuses on data visualization—its methodologies, best practices, and popular tools, which provide comprehensive, interactive, exploratory data analysis capabilities and, thus, represent a fundamental component of the modern business analytics toolbox. The field of data visualization combines the art of graphic design with the science of data analytics, and the course will introduce students to the techniques and tools used to create effective visualizations that clearly and efficiently communicate relationships in data. Students will learn how to perform exploratory analysis through visualization, how to create appropriate visualizations for use in business reports and presentations, and how to design interactive visualizations and dashboards. Students will also have hands‐on experience designing and prototyping data visualizations using modern, state‐of‐the‐art software, such as Tableau and R, on real‐world datasets.
