JOUR 4264 - Campaigns/National Student Advertising Competition (3 Cr.)
Course description
This course is designed to bring together all aspects of strategic communications planning that students have gained from previous strategic communication classes. This class will aid students in the development of decision-making skills that are needed to develop an integrated strategic communications plan. All the essentials of developing a campaign are covered, including advertising strategy, brand positioning, developing creative/content, consumer research, planning and setting communication objectives, media strategies/plans, budgeting, public relations programs, digital, social, and promotion. The core project in this course will be participation in the AAF's National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC).
Students must apply to and be accepted into the UMN NSAC program to enroll in this course. Application information is sent out to strategic communication majors in early September and the application is available upon request at that time by contacting sjmcugs@umn.edu.
