Course description

This course examines struggles over the U.S. Constitution from the founding to the present. It foregrounds the experience of diverse communities and their efforts to change, preserve, or realize constitutional meaning. Through a history of rights and citizenship, powers of government, and social movements' pursuits of justice, it conveys the centrality of constitutional history to American life.
