School of Public Health - Adm (11162)
TPUB - School of Public Health
Course description
This is a course intended to teach residential MHA and MPH students the art and science of healthcare management case analysis, including business case development as well as presentation strategy and skills. It includes practical instruction of analyzing a healthcare management case, creating recommendations, understanding different audiences, developing presentation materials and delivering the presentation. The course will cover case competition logistics for those interested in participating in a case competition while enrolled at the University of Minnesota. This course helps prepare students and teams for a case competition and business case analysis and deliverables. The final deliverable from the case competition does serve as a deliverable in the course. If a student does not participate in a competition the instructor will provide a case for this student to work on independently throughout the semester. The course could be helpful for the purpose of preparing for case interviews and consulting roles, although the course does not cover the specifics of case interviewing. Case interviewing will be provided in a different forum within the MHA Program.
