DES 1903 - Retail and Consumer Edutainment (3 Cr.) Freshman Seminar
Course description
The focus of this course is to bridge the gap from what we see retail and consumers portrayed as on streamed content to what it actually is in the industry as professionals. Students will watch a variety of different shows, sitcoms, movies, and documentaries and then reflect in individual and group settings to build a foundation of retail and consumer knowledge that will help jump start their careers at either their part-time jobs, internships, or post-graduate endeavors. By the end of the semester, students will not only have enjoyed their streaming efforts but also gained an insightful base of retail and consumer studies across industries, channels, business models, products, categories, designers, and teams; this is the true spirit of both education and entertainment!
