Course description

This is a 1-credit course in applied qualitative research methods utilizing the NVivo qualitative analysis software. The course introduces students to the purposes of qualitative data analysis software (QDA/CAQDAS); the use of NVivo in organizing, managing, analyzing, and querying qualitative materials; and managing teamwork in a qualitative analysis environment. The course assumes previous exposure to qualitative research methodology, including design, collection, and analysis. The course emphasizes practical skills of analysis as mediated by the NVivo software. The class involves one, two-hour class session per week that consist of didactic lectures, software demonstrations, but is primarily focused on practical, hands-on learning.
