FDSY 4005 - Practical Approaches to Diversified Organic Production Systems (2 Cr.)

Horticultural Science (11030) TCOA - College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences

Course description

This course will cover practical, hands-on applications of organic agricultural production systems using the Student Organic Farm (SOF) on the St. Paul campus as a learning laboratory and model for small-scale/pilot integrated systems. Students in this course will develop practical skills from three different disciplinary fields within an organic production framework: farm management, animal science, and horticultural science. These skills are valuable for students hoping to gain background knowledge and experience related to small-scale, diversified (this term could be expanded) organic farms. This course is appropriate for upper division undergraduate students in CFANS or graduate students who want to learn more about the applied aspects of organic agricultural production systems.
