Program learning outcomes
Graduates of the Biomedical Engineering (BME) M.S. program will demonstrate advanced knowledge in core biological, physiological, and technical areas. Graduates will communicate effectively across disciplines and to a range of audiences through technical writing, journal publications, and presentations at professional conferences. They will demonstrate leadership and collaboration skills—working productively on interdisciplinary teams, managing conflict, and developing research-group management capacity appropriate for future roles as scientific leaders. Graduates will uphold ethical norms and research integrity, account for societal implications of their scholarship, and develop professional identity through engagement and networking within relevant scientific communities and across the arenas where biomedical engineering is practiced (e.g., academia, industry, government, and oversight). They will also develop advanced personal and professional management skills—persistence through setbacks, adaptability, and, in particular, the ability to plan, manage resources, and prioritize multiple complex projects.
