Program learning outcomes
We pursue the following specific questions at the level of sophistication required of a graduate program, and with attentiveness to the distinctiveness of each historical subfield: What is history? How is the academic writing of history different from and related to population conceptions of history? How is the discipline of history related to other disciplines? How do historians write? What role do questions of social and political justice play in the writing, teaching and researching of history? The purpose of our graduate program is to help students theoretically and empirically produce astute as well as ethically informed historical scholarship.
