These courses are intended to be taken earlier in a student's career in the major, and would ideally be completed prior to a student's final academic year.

Students should prioritize completing their core HRD coursework (OLPD 3601, OLPD 3621, OLPD 3641, OLPD 3202) and OLPD 3609 as the prerequisites for the OLPD 4696 Applied Experience. It is strongly recommended to take OLPD 3609 within the first semesters of being in the HRD major.

The Applied Experience is typically completed in a student's final academic year and can be completed in various ways, including the courses listed below or through an approved Learning Abroad program. Students should consult an OLPD Advisor to plan for their Applied Experience.

Students must complete one elective from the following list of course options. If OLPD 3310 is available, students must take OLPD 3310 for 3 credits.

Courses must be upper-division (3000 or higher) unless approved by an OLPD Advisor. Students may select courses from the pre-approved list, or propose other coursework in consultation with their OLPD Advisor. Students are required to take one upper division writing intensive course within the major. If that requirement has not been satisfied within the core major requirements, students must choose one course from the following list. Some of these courses may also fulfill other major requirements.
