Program description
The Medieval Studies minor covers the period of the Middle Ages, between 300 and 1500 C.E., globally. It provides students with the opportunity to engage in the history, art, theater, music, literature, and languages of the period, as well as earlier cultural influences on it, through coursework in a variety of disciplines.
The program allows students to gain a more complex understanding of the Global Middle Ages through opportunities to expand their geographic focus and diversify their approaches and fields of knowledge.
The minor is administered through the Center for Premodern Studies in the College of Liberal Arts. Students interested in the minor should make an appointment with the Center for Premodern Studies Director of Undergraduate Studies (1030 Heller Hall) by emailing the CPS Associate Director at premod@umn.edu.
