Program description
The Psychology MA is an additional or alternative credential for students in the Psychology PhD program and is not available as a stand-alone degree. It is designed to provide the flexibility to align with the curricular requirements of all seven tracks of the Psychology PhD: Clinical Science and Psychopathology Research (CSPR); Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CAB); Counseling Psychology; Industrial-Organizational Psychology (I-O); Personality, Individual Differences, and Behavior Genetics (PIB); Quantitative/Psychometric Methods (QPM); and Social Psychology.
Master's students are expected to demonstrate research competencies appropriate to their area of doctoral training; engage in the effective teaching and/or mentoring of undergraduates; and contribute service, engagement, and leadership to the field commensurate to the master's level.
Master's plan selection (Plan A versus Plan B) is determined by the student's area of specialization and its requirements, which are documented in the area's handbook.
