Program description
The Public Health Nutrition MPH program is for students dedicated to creating healthy communities that promote active living and healthy eating. The curriculum focuses on food access, community nutrition interventions, health disparities, and public health nutrition policies. Housed within the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health, the program offers interdisciplinary education with access to diverse courses and faculty. Students can specialize in areas like maternal and child nutrition, nutrition epidemiology, nutrition policy, or obesity prevention to align with their interests and career goals.
The Public Health Nutrition Coordinated Program (CP) track provides both an MPH in pubic health nutrition, and the required coursework and internship hours to be eligible to take the RD exam. This is a highly competitive program. Students with a nutrition/dietetics undergraduate degree must complete a minimum of 51 credits, and students without a nutrition/dietetics undergraduate degree must complete a minimum of 57 credits.
The School of Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), and the Coordinated Program is additionally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
