Students pursuing this major will take coursework that support the development of their proficiency in:
Possessing a sound understanding of the sport industry, including its structure, key industry roles and players, current trends, and challenges/opportunities.
Possessing strong practical management skills, with the capability to lead teams, make strategic decisions, and manage responsibilities and change in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively in a team or sport organization, including communicating with diverse stakeholders such as athletes, sponsors, media, fans, donors, and administrators.
Engaging in a proactive, solution-oriented mindset, identifying challenges, analyzing problems, and implementing evidence-based solutions.
Demonstrating strong networking skills to build and maintain relationships and foster partnerships and opportunities with key actors within the sport industry.
Demonstrating proficiency in data analysis by making informed decisions based on key performance indicators, research data, market trends, and other relevant data.
Using an entrepreneurial mindset to develop innovative strategies for marketing, event management, and business operations in the sports industry.
