Program learning outcomes

The Family Violence Prevention Minor uses the University of Minnesota Student Learning Outcomes:
Students pursuing this minor will take coursework that support the development of their proficiency in:
• Mastering a body of knowledge and a mode of inquiry
• Locating and critically evaluating information
• Communicating effectively
• Identifying, defining and solving problems,
• Understanding diverse philosophies and cultures
• Understanding the role of creativity, innovation, discovery and expression
• Acquiring skills for effective citizenship and lifelong learning.

Learning outcome: Understand family violence prevention and intervention within the context of current theory, research, and most promising practices, and connect these with specific examples of community organizations to identify effective and practical strategies of intervention and prevention.
