College of Science and Engineering (TIOT)299 - Bachelor of Science in Data Science

Program learning outcomes

SLO #1. Solve Problems. Students will learn how to understand the data science needs of an application, how to break down the needs into a sequence of specific problems that can be solved using known data science techniques, and how to put the results back together to address the overall application needs. SLO #2. Locate and Apply Information. Students will learn how to analyze the subproblems that together constitute the overall application’s needs and identify the specific techniques required to solve them. This would include learning how to use data science tools that embody various methods/techniques. SLO #3. Demonstrate a Body of Knowledge. Students can demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and skills about advanced Data Science concepts. SLO #4. Communicate Effectively. Students can communicate with those having application problems, and collaboratively work to formulate the problems in data science terms. Once the problems have been solved, students will be able to communicate the results back, while discussing various tradeoffs.
