Program learning outcomes
This minor emphasizes developing a core expertise in sensory science, learning how sensory science can be applied to solve problems related to sensory loss, and getting exposed to new academic fields outside of the trainee's major program of coursework. The minor is composed of two key parts:
The keystone of the minor is SLHS 5022, The human experience of sensory loss. This course is taught collaboratively by multiple UMN faculty and combines a basic background in sensory science with an emphasis on sensory loss and applications of sensory science.
The rest of the minor is three additional courses that must be outside of a trainee's home department and related in some way to sensory science.
