Program description
A minor in Youth Studies focuses on direct practice with young people and the philosophies, theories, and skills that advance high-quality and liberatory ways of working with others, especially those who are young. Learners in this minor will understand historical and contemporary practice models and be able to apply these in community-based settings. Because youth work happens in a variety of settings, this minor complements many majors that prepare students to work in communities, families, or with individuals. Students earning this minor complete 16 credits from relevant coursework in a learning environment that is active and engaged, with an emphasis on experiential learning and connecting theory to practice.
