Minimum GPA to receive degree
In addition to standard requirements for all UMN doctoral students, all CSPR students must complete a “mailbox ready” manuscript, first-year research project, dissertation prospectus, and predoctoral internship prior to graduation (typically in the final year of the program).
All CSPR (APCS) students without the master's upon matriculation must also complete the UMN Psychology MA degree. Only the Plan B (capstone) option is acceptable.
A GPA of 3.2 or better is required.
Students must earn a B- or better in all core courses (or an S in all practicum courses). At a maximum, no more than two B's (including B-, B, or B+) should be earned as final grades in core courses.

Most students start taking thesis credits while in coursework (years 1-3), but should consult the area and department handbooks for specifics. Take up to 14 credits of PSY 8888 in fall of the fourth year (typically while completing preliminary oral examinations) to finish thesis credits that term unless otherwise directed, or if 24 thesis credits have already been completed.
