Program learning outcomes
The Early Childhood Education program uses both the student learning outcomes designed by the university and a program-specific learning outcome. The program-specific outcome is described below:
Graduates of the Early Childhood Education program will be able to understand how children learn and develop, and provide learning opportunities that support children’s physical, intellectual, social and personal development.
This standard is aligned with the InTASC Standard #1: Learner Development. North Dakota Common Metrics: Skills of Teaching Observation Tool (STOT).
The University of Minnesota Student Learning Outcomes are as follows:
Students can identify, define, and solve problems.
Students can locate and critically evaluate information.
Students have mastered a body of knowledge and a mode of inquiry.
Students understand diverse philosophies and culture within and across societies.
Students can communicate effectively.
Students understand the role of creativity, innovation, discovery, and expression across disciplines.
Students have acquired skills for effective citizenship and lifelong learning.
