Program learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete the Science Communication & Outreach minor will be able to demonstrate:
Disciplinary Competence: Development and demonstration of core knowledge and skills in the science communication and education disciplines, including existing core theories, knowledge, and applied practices.
Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively about science disciplines through written, oral, and visual forms to expert and general audiences across diverse segments and contexts.
Professional Development: Demonstration of competencies and skills required for success in a range of careers, including teamwork, collaboration, strategy development, engagement of stakeholders, ethics, and a commitment to understanding the perspectives of others.
Engagement and Outreach: Demonstrated experience in service, engagement, outreach, and citizenship in the community, including building partnerships with important stakeholders, sharing research and expertise with audiences inside and outside academic institutions, and involvement in building positive cultures and climates within the University, organizations, and communities.
