Note: A minimum of two of the following Research and Data Analysis courses (6 credits) can be satisfied by taking MuEd 8115, MuEd 8119, research methods courses from the College of Education and Human Development, and other research methods courses with advisor approval.

Music Education students are required to participate in MuEd 8900 every semester while completing coursework for at least 3 semesters. Up to 4 credits of 8900 may count toward completion of the major area in the degree plan. Additional credits of MuEd 5xxx/8xxx may be selected in consultation with the advisor to reach the minimum requirement of 12 credits.

Take a minimum of 2 courses from 2 of the 3 disciplines of Musicology/Ethnomusicology, Theory, and Creative Studies and Media is required, with at least one 3-credit course taken at the University of Minnesota. This may include one literature/pedagogy course.
