The thesis must demonstrate the student's originality and ability for independent investigation, and the results of the research must constitute a significant contribution to knowledge within the field. The thesis must exhibit a mastery of the literature of the subject and familiarity with the sources. The subject matter must be presented in a scholarly manner, providing evidence of highly developed literary skill.
